Putting a video up on YouTube was a real act of courage! Actually, figuring out how to make a movie was probably the hardest part. I gave myself a crash course in iMovie and the result can be viewed below. This Sell Up and Sail Away Video was a real baptism of fire 🙂
Right, let me put this movie into context. We decided to sell up and sail away in October, however, the lead up to that point probably took 10 years. Once our decision was made we started to investigate various boats. My husband Simon has had a love affair with Oysters for as long as I remember so we started looking at used 49’s (49 feet long).
If you want to start at the beginning, read chapter one: 1. That’s it – I’m selling everything and sailing around the world!
To our absolute astonishment, a 56′ Oyster 2003 was on the market for a price we could afford (at a squeeze). One thing led to another and before we knew it, Sim and I were on a plane headed for Palma, Mallorca to go for a test sail. We were 95% sure that we wanted the boat, but like any large purchase, you want to see it yourself and get a professional survey.
This movie shows our first sail, Simon’s reaction, a bit about taking the boat out of the water for the survey and some sightseeing (or is it site seeing?) I really need to learn English one of these days. Anyway, without any further delay, may I present to you Pearl Fisher who will soon be named Britican (if we buy her)!

Please leave me a comment on your thoughts! Any tips on creating better movies would be appreciated too. I seriously don’t know what I’m doing. Yikes!
