St Augustine, Florida
The trip from Amelia Island to St Augustine took 12 hours. We left our mooring in the darkness at 6 am and arrived in St Augustine Municipal Marina mooring field around 2 pm. Our aim was to leave early so to ensure a daylight arrival at our destination. Join us for the passage, see what it looks like to enter St Augustine, and find out why we thought it was one of our most favorite stops in Florida.

Cape Canaveral
After spending two enjoyable days and nights in St Augustine, we slipped our mooring ball lines. It was a crisp cool morning and there was a very slight breeze. The sun was shining and we were eager to head down to Cape Canaveral, a 20-hour sail. While there we went to the Kennedy Space Center – what a treat! If you’ve never stopped there before it’s well worth doing so when you sail along Florida.

West Palm Beach To Fort Lauderdale Down the Intracostal Waterway
The Intracoastal Waterway, or ICW, is a 3,000-mile (4,800 km) inland waterway along the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico coasts of the United States. It runs from Boston, Massachusetts, south along the Atlantic coast and around the southern tip of Florida, then following the Gulf Coast to Brownsville, Texas. We ran aground four times…but it was a great trip. Read this article and watch our video.

Fort Lauderdale
This post offers a sailing trip on the ICW and up the New River. In the video, Simon shows our navigation plan from West Palm Beach to Lettuce Lake via the ICW. I point out president Trump’s house. We go through loads of bridges and our volunteer crew member, Andrew, does some bird watching. Sienna does here homeschooling. And Simon runs us aground four times.
