Back in April, Britican and her crew went on an epic weeklong voyage sailing from Gibraltar to Malta – over 850 miles. We saw loads of dolphins, got stormbound in Algeria, had to seek refuge in Tunisia, spoke endlessly about food (especially cannoli’s) and finally made it to the amazing country of Malta.
Sailing from Gibraltar to Malta was our first very big voyage
Helping us along, was:
- Skipper Mike, a friend and professional skipper
- Loryn Bennett, my lovely cousin and Britican’s chef (April – Sept 2014)
- Eneka Stewart, my dear friend and amazing photographer
I wrote about the journey of our trip in the piece entitled, Our First Sailing Adventure, however at the time of writing I used my photos. During the trip, Eneka captured several amazing moments.
Looking back, it feels like that trip was years ago yet it has only been 5 months
The places we’ve been, experiences we’ve gained, and new friends we’ve met have been nothing short of astonishing. Each day flies by yet I feel as if I’m experience years of life in a very short span to time. It’s amazing.
Anyway, I was playing with my website today and I wanted to add some of the photos Eneka took in her profile under The Crew section. I sent her a Facebook chat asking if she made a video. Her response was ‘no, but I’ll make one now!’
When she sent me the YouTube link I spent a few minutes reliving our trip.
I couldn’t help but well up with emotion
That first voyage was hell (I was very seasick) and it was heaven (friends, laughs, teamwork, food, moonlight, memories, accomplishment…)
Anyway, read Our First Sailing Adventure to get the full scoop. But before you do, check out this video log of pictures. Hopefully they’ll give you a small taste of our journey. Furthermore, if you’re looking for a great photographer, please get in touch with my friend, Eneka – she’s brilliant!
