Throughout the year we take volunteer crew members to sail with us on Britican for an extended period – usually six weeks to two months. The crew member pays for his/her flights to and from our location and we cover the cost of food and housing. Chiara is our latest guest – watch her amazing video featuring her adventures with Britican below.
More about our guests…In exchange for helping us to cook, clean, help out with our daughter, Sienna, assist with our ever amounting boat jobs and any extra projects, we teach them how to sail, what the cruisers life is like all while taking them to breathtakingly beautiful locations.
It’s a wonderful opportunity for anyone wanting to get an in-depth look into the tropical liveaboard cruising life.
And for us, an extra pair of hands is invaluable.
The guests that usually join us are often transitioning between jobs, work during the summer and have winters off or do contract work where they can take a couple of months off between projects.
If you’ve seen our videos you would have noticed Andrew – he sailed with us from Charleston to the Bahamas and then joined us in Grenada for a couple of months later on the same year. And then there’s the lovely Dutch Douwe who joined us from St Kitts down to Trinidad. Douwe is a sound technician for musicians and live shows. He worked for Katie Perry so Sienna thinks he’s a god!
And there was the lovely Mark. He sailed all around the Grenadines with us. Mark retired and had not yet set a direction as to what his next project was so his calendar was wide open.
Chiara Magi is our newest Britican Crew.
Chiara was born in Estonia but has lived in Italy over the past ten years. Aside from going out on a couple of day sail trips, she didn’t have much experience of being on a boat. She’s a professional videographer covering weddings in Sicily in addition to special projects. Her busy season is the summer so she had the opportunity to come sailing with us for a couple of months.
Thus far during her stay, she’s been to Grenada, Carriacou, Union Island, Bequia, St Lucia, and Antigua. Chiara was also able to join Simon and our other crew to race in this year’s Oyster Antigua Regatta.
Chiara has become a part of our family now – we all work together to get jobs done in the morning and save time to see the sights, taste the fruits and enjoy the culture in the afternoon.
When we have Britican Experience guests, we all work to make the week-long experience one to remember. For our guests in April and May of this year, they got the added bonus of having lovely photos and videos taken of them by Chiara!
I’m not going to tell you what Chiara has seen thus far – you can see for yourself. Chiara has a YouTube channel and you can check out her first video of a series that she’s created while sailing with us above.
Make sure to follow Chiara’s channel and like her videos. She works very hard and makes the most exceptional productions. She’s a star 🙂
