Sailing Experience in Open Ocean

Over the years we’ve grown to offer more than week-long sailing cruiser lifesetyle experiences. In addition to providing guests with a Caribbean island-hopping daily sailing and boat life opportunity, we also offer sailing experience in open ocean. Many of our open ocean long passage guests use this as the final test. This test allows them to press the GO button on making their sailing dreams a reality.

Some of our guests want to know if they can manage a variety of things before they commit to buying a boat. Some include:

  • handle rough seas
  • not see land for days
  • survive seasickness
  • manage with the constant motion of the boat
  • learn to be able to do normal things like eat and sleep
  • understanding when to go/not go (passage planning and weather routing)

Long sailing passages are only a very small part of the sailing cruising life but they are definitely a part of it. If you buy a boat in the US you might just want to sail it to Bermuda, the Bahamas, down into the Caribbean, or even around the world!

Watch our Five Days at Sea video to get an idea of what our guests experienced on their trip from Virginia to Bermuda and on down to St Martin. Is it time for you to try an open ocean passage?
