We’ve made some big decisions, and there have been some significant life transitions over the last year and a half. So, what happened to Sailing Britican?
A Year on Land
First off, our daughter Sienna wanted stability. She wanted an everyday kid’s life with friends, carpet, heating, and all the comforts. You know how it is. I hated the idea of saying goodbye to the lifestyle, so we agreed to a year on land. As fate would have it, Sienna is thriving with school, friends, and consistency – which feels amazing.
I’m also so grateful to my mom and dad. After losing my mom’s husband and her recovering from some severe health issues, I was able to help take care of her. To top off this crazy chapter, my mom and dad, who’ve been apart for 30 years, are back together! I know, it’s like a wild soap opera over here.
But What About Me?
Now, you’re probably wondering where that leaves me. Honestly, there’s been some grief to process – I’ve recently realized that it’s not about the lifestyle itself but more about the memories of sailing with Sienna. Watching her grow up on Britcan was extraordinary, and I miss that.
There’s conflict, too. I want to keep living this lifestyle, but I also need to move forward. I no longer know my purpose and what kind of career to pursue. But we’re staying optimistic about this.
Britican and Beyond

Simon, meanwhile, has moved the BRITICAN EXPERIENCE onto a 500 Lagoon catamaran. He’s offering week-long charters where guests can feel what the sailing life is like. If you’ve ever thought about getting into sailing but aren’t sure if it’s for you, this is your chance!
You gain the sights, the smells, the skills, the confidence – all of it! Simon will be your guide, and I’ll be helping behind the scenes, so you’ll still get that personal touch.
Why a Catamaran?
Now, you might be raising your eyebrows about Simon choosing a catamaran, and fair enough. The motion is different. But, if you’re focused on enjoying the destination, maybe it doesn’t matter how you get there. I’m kind of digging the space and how flat it is – especially on the flybridge.
