Aside from wanting to buy a boat, why do people go to shows? In this video, Simon outlines 5 reasons to attend a boat show. Some of the reasons you may already know but I’m certain that there might be one or two that are new to you. Enjoy the video!

5 Reasons to Attend a Boat Show – The List

  1. Boat shows make it easy to compare and contrast all sorts of options.
  2. Going to the boat show shows INTENT.
  3. At the boat show, you might discover opportunities that you didn’t know existed.
  4. Boat shows provide an opportunity for you to meet people.
  5. Boat shows have deals on a wide variety of boating kit.

The List Explained

  1. Boat shows make it easy to compare and contrast all sorts of options.
It’s not common to have so many boat manufacturers, styles, sizes, and layouts all in the same location. By viewing different boats you’ll determine what you like and don’t like. As mentioned in the 5 Reasons to Attend a Boat Show video, you’ll learn that Simon quickly eliminated certain boats due to a lack of standing room.
  2. Going to the boat show shows INTENT.
When you take action, even small steps, in the direction of your goal, the universe gets your message and things start to happen!
  3. At the boat show, you might discover opportunities that you didn’t know existed.
When we first went to the boat show we expected to look at a lot of boats. What we didn’t realize was that there were ways to get out sailing, almost immediately, and start experiencing sailing life. Boat shows offer way more than just a bunch of boats 😉
  4. Boat shows provide an opportunity for you to meet people.
You’ll be able to meet boat sales reps, manufacturers, boat ancillary producers, sailing instructors, boating schools, and even YouTube sailing personalities!
  5. Boat shows have deals on a wide variety of boating kit.
We’d never buy a boat at a boat show as we’d want individualized attention. But we have purchased loads of boating equipment, clothes, and boat-related goods at a discount. Remember to always ask for a better deal and go on the last day to get the best deals.

    Hiya Simon & Kim,
Thank you for all your inspiring videos and very helpful advice.

I am enjoying living on my first boat – A Birchwood 33 motor cruiser (I am not into flappy sails and all that heeling over). I plan to get a 2nd, bigger cruiser for longer offshore passages.

I look forward to being able to get to the Southampton boat show one year soon but sadly the tyranny of employment still restricts my free time.

Who knows what my 2nd boat will turn out to be as pricing of 2nd hand boats as opposed to new opens up so many possibilities.
