Finding the right sailboat gear storage solutions is an ongoing battle for any sailing cruiser. That’s why my husband, Simon, did a RUX 70L review. Allow me to share with you our findings.
I’ve gone through my share of cracked bins, soggy duffels, and that sinking feeling when I know something important has been soaked in salt water. When I heard about the RUX 70L gear hauler and its promises of organization, durability, and water resistance, I was intrigued but skeptical. Could it really be a good solution for sailors?
Box, Bag, or Something Entirely New?
The RUX 70L review. The Rux stands out because it’s neither a flimsy duffel nor a rigid, space-hogging bin. It’s built with this incredibly tough, waterproof outer material, but the clever part is the internal frame. This pops up, turning the whole thing into an upright, open-topped box – perfect for finally seeing everything you’ve got crammed inside.
Carrying It Your Way: Versatility for Liveaboard Sailboat Life
Whether you’re hauling groceries back from shore (backpack mode for hands-free lugging), grabbing tools for a project (side handles for a quick trip), or needing an over-the-shoulder option, the RUX has you covered. The straps are modular, meaning you can switch them around to fit the situation, and they tuck away neatly when not needed. This kind of adaptability is key when space and convenience are always at a premium on a boat.
Weatherproofing That Actually Works – Rux 70L Review
We’ve taken the RUX through some serious downpours, lashed it on deck in rough weather, and traveled with it in our dinghy and even paddleboard, and it’s never failed. The materials and construction are clearly top-notch, and everything inside stays bone dry. It’s also ridiculously tough, surviving the inevitable knocks and bumps that happen in the tight confines of a sailboat or dinghy.

Beyond Provisions: Solving Everyday Storage Woes
I honestly thought the RUX was a one-trick pony – great for grocery runs, but then relegated to a locker. Turns out, I was wrong. It’s now our foul weather gear organizer (no more damp mess!), holds spare lines and shackles, and has even become an impromptu cockpit table. It works great on the beach as a bar for sundowners, too! The lid rolls back easily, and the sturdy base is surprisingly stable. Plus, when extra space is needed below decks, it all compresses down surprisingly flat.
The Price Question: Is This Waterproof Gear Hauler Worth It?
There’s no point pretending the RUX 70L is a budget item. That said, as a liveaboard cruiser, I’ve learned the hard way that quality gear pays off over time. The RUX feels like it will outlast several cheaper options, and the sheer sanity it adds to organizing our gear feels worth the investment on its own.
My Honest Verdict – RUX 70L Review
If you’re constantly at war with bins, bags, and general gear chaos on your sailboat, the RUX 70L deserves a serious look. It’s exceptionally well-made, genuinely waterproof, and has found its way into solving more daily storage problems than I expected. Check out the Rux 70L HERE.
