Since our last update video, we’ve been busy doing our Britican Experiences were we take paying guests for a week-long experiential adventure. We have also been getting boat jobs done and hanging out with all the liveaboard cruisers down here in Grenada. We had another wonderful pig roast with some great friends. Most recently, however, we had an experience sailing to five countries in a week.
Sooooooo…some of our experiences have been long trips.
We took our wonderful guests, Jennifer and Jon, from Grenada to Antigua sailing over two nights. Another awesome guest, David, sailed with us from Antigua to Grenada. And we had Becky join us from St Martin to Grenada. Other experiences included a week-long Oyster regatta.
But the majority of our experiences have been based in and around Grenada.
Now just because the majority of our experiences have been around Grenada doesn’t mean they haven’t been uneventful. With the lovely Merrill, we all got to experience sailing from a tropical storm. With the awesome couple Joe and Sarah, they helped us rescue a boat calling a MAYDAY (check out rescue at sea and much more.)
What we’re finding interesting is that each experience is so different.
And they’re different in a spooky kind of way. We don’t plan too much…we just let our guests, the boat and the weather dictate how the week is going to play out.
For our last Britican Experience we had two wonderful gentlemen join us for a week. The two guys didn’t know each other – one of them booked and then we sent out an email asking if another person would like to join helping to reduce the price for each guest. One thing led to another and we had Jim and Les signed up to join us for a week.
A week before the guys joined us our washing machine died.
Simon researched where we could get one and the closest place was Martinique, a French Island, a 24-hour sail away. Originally we were going to sail up prior to the guy’s arrival but we thought they might like a mission.
Simon called them both and said, ‘hey do you want to help us go get a washing machine? It will include an overnight sail. We’ll sail up to Martinique and then we’ll sail back down to Grenada visiting five different countries.
Both guys said they loved the idea of a mission! And the rest is history. Watch the Sailing To Five Countries Video to see our journey.
