This video below showcases sailing the Spanish Virgin Island. If you’re looking for a sailing destination that’s off the beaten path, this archipelago is a must visit. Before watching the video, let me give you a quick summary of what the islands are like.
The Spanish Virgin Islands are a small archipelago located in the eastern Caribbean Sea, just east of Puerto Rico.
They consist of three main islands – Culebra, Vieques, and a smaller island called Culebrita. Despite their name, the Spanish Virgin Islands are actually a part of the United States territory of Puerto Rico. These islands have a rich history that dates back to pre-Columbian times, and they have been inhabited by various indigenous groups over the years.
Culebra is the largest of the Spanish Virgin Islands, and it is known for its unspoiled beaches and crystal-clear waters.
Flamenco Beach, located on the north coast of Culebra, is widely considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Vieques, the second-largest island, is home to the world-famous bioluminescent Mosquito Bay, where microorganisms in the water emit a bright blue light at night.
Culebrita, the smallest of the islands, is uninhabited and features a secluded beach that can only be accessed by boat.
The Spanish Virgin Islands are known for their natural beauty, which makes them a popular destination for tourists who want to experience the Caribbean in a more relaxed and secluded setting. The islands are also a great place for activities such as hiking, snorkeling, scuba diving, and birdwatching. The islands offer an authentic Caribbean experience with a strong Spanish influence, with many local restaurants serving up traditional Spanish and Puerto Rican cuisine.
The Spanish Virgin Islands offer a unique and unforgettable Caribbean experience that combines natural beauty, seclusion, and a rich cultural heritage.
The islands are a perfect destination for those looking for a more off-the-beaten-path travel experience, with pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a laid-back vibe. Whether you want to anchor of a secluded beach, explore the islands’ natural wonders, or immerse yourself in the local culture, the Spanish Virgin Islands are sure to provide an unforgettable sailing destination.

As seen in the video, these floating mats are great for boats! After a sail we blow it up, tie it off the back of the boat and the kids (and sometimes the adults!) spend hours jumping on and off the mat. It saves the kids from having to climb up on the boat getting saltwater all over the place. Make sure to add this to your wishlist 🙂
