St Lucia – A Must-Stop Island for Sailing Cruisers

Take a tour if St Lucia by sailboat and foot. In this video, you’ll see Rodney Bay, the marina and surrounding area, Marigot Bay, The Pitons by water and up on top, natural baths, and much more. It’s one of our older videos but if you want a good grasp of what you’ll find in St Lucia, it’s worth a watch.

Also, make sure to check out my written review on Rodney Bay Marina if you’re going to head there. It’s one of our favorite marinas and we highly recommend it for several reasons.

St Lucia is where we landed after crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

Seeing land after such a long passage and then seeing the very spot where I’d get off the boat and step down onto solid ground was priceless. I’ll never forget turning into the pontoon area and my husband, Simon, backing the boat into our slip. The swell was finally gone, there were restaurants and bars ready to receive us and the marina staff was very helpful.

We crossed the Atlantic with the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers so we were one of over 200 boats that crossed at the same time. Aside from the Rodney Bay marina attendant’s helping us in, we had a crowd of ARC personnel and friends who arrived earlier cheer us in.

And what better place to feel the ground again than the Rodney Bay Marina St Lucia.

Over the course of four weeks, we stayed in or around the Rodney Bay Marina for the majority of the time. We moored along various pontoons, stayed on a mooring ball inside the marina, anchored in Rodney Bay itself and then stayed in Marigot Bay and around the town of Soufriere (location of the Piton Mountains) further down the coast.

Since we entered the Caribbean back in 2016 we’ve gone to St Lucia countless times. It now feels as if we were coming home. It’s interesting how some places become a base and feel comfortable.

Make sure to read my Rodney Bay Marina Review too.

THE BRITICAN EXPERIENCE – A WEEK-LONG BLUEWATER CRUISING EXPERIENCE
Britican Experience
Britican Experience
Britican Experience

“Sailing Britican was more than a vacation on the beach. For a week we tasted a new way of life we didn’t know possible. We couldn’t say it better than Margaret, our four-year-old “being on a boat is the life for me! Wind in my hair, not a care!”

With the constant sound of crashing waves, a rocking boat, the sunsets, and translucent waters glistening it’s a challenge to pinpoint our favorite moments.

Every moment of every day seemed to gel together helping us to forget our worries on land. Thank you to Kim and Simon for sharing their sailing expertise, introduced us to other sailing families, and a pace of life full of fresh and salty air! Their home is truly a dream, their sailing stories an unforgettable experience!

They are generous people who want to share this life with all who dare to seek it. What a phenomenal experience for our family of five. Even our littlest member turned one on Britican, a memory we will cherish forever.” Dorothy, Roger, Isla, Margaret & Patrick
