Sailing St Kitts! Join my husband, Simon, and I for a sail from Saba, past St Eustatius, and down to St Kitts and Nevis.
Find out what tasks Simon does at 5 am in the morning, experience a very bumpy ride, learn St Kitts travel requirements to book in and out, see what cruisers get up to on the island, check out St Christophe Marina, climb a volcano, visit a fort, and much more.
But first, Where is Saint Kitts Located?
Saint Kitts and Nevis is a dual-island nation located between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. It’s known for cloud-shrouded volcano and beautiful white beaches. Many of its former sugar plantations are now inns or very interesting restaurants.
Saint Kitts is the larger of the two islands, and is dominated by the dormant Mount Liamuiga volcano. This volcano has a crater lake! You’ll also find green vervet monkeys in the rainforest. It’s well worth a visit. Check out the video.

Sailing St Kitts – the picture explained
We play a game called ‘Dead Ant.’ Our South African friends from s/v Why Knot taught us the game while cruising around Greece. Whoever’s ‘it’ gets to call ‘Dead Ant’ at any moment. When someone yells ‘Dead Ant’ you have to drop down on your back, put your legs in the air and act like you’re a dying ant.
Whoever is last down becomes ‘it’ and has to call the next ‘Dead Ant.’
We’ve had it called in crazy places before – in front of loads of people while getting in the dinghy and in a busy restaurant. It’s a great game to play with a group of people. So…when cruisers aren’t sailing St Kitts this is what you mind witness.

THE BRITICAN EXPERIENCE - A WEEK-LONG BLUEWATER CRUISING EXPERIENCE | |
---|---|
During Merrill's Sailing Lifestyle Experience he learned how to book out and into a different country, what it's like to fly a mainsail, genoa, and staysail, how to anchor, tie onto a mooring ball and dock up at a marina. And unfortunately/fortunately Merrill managed to experience what it was like to ride out a surprise tropical storm. If you'd like to experience what it's truly like to live and cruise on a bluewater sailboat, come join me for a week. Check out our availability here: Click here for more information. |
