After five months of lockdown in Grenada due to Covid restrictions we’ve finally been able to start sailing again. Britican is sailing again and it feels AMAZING.
When we first headed out of the marina and turned straight into the Atlantic Ocean both my husband, Simon, and I wondered if we would remember how to sail. We motored for an hour to get in position for the right wind angle, I raised our main and Simon unfurled the Genoa.
We then turned off the engine and felt absolute BLISS.
Join us on our first post-Covid lockdown sail. We leave the beautiful Le Phare Bleu Marina, head east out into the Atlantic Ocean and then north to Sandy Island in Carriacou (part of Grenada). Our buddy boat, however, takes on water so we divert to Ronde Island instead. Watch the video to see, feel and experience life as a live aboard sailor.
Britican Is Sailing Again Video
Yes…Britican is sailing again.
Seven years ago we had no idea that the sailboat lifestyle existed. We had jobs, a house, our cars and a routine lifestyle. Our lives weren’t bad but they weren’t very fulfilling. We were frustrated with life. We felt like there must be a better way to live. Looking back now when we made the decision to sell our stuff, move onto a boat and explore the world it was the best thing we’ve ever done. We’re here to let you know that there is another way to live life and if we can do it so can you. Come join us on Britican for a cruising lifestyle experience.
If you’re thinking of joining us now that Britican is sailing again, get more information from our Britican Experience page.
Some couples and families are booking dates next year in 2021 (this year is already booked up) and others are going on our last-minute-offer list. Due to Covid we’re not sure what islands will be open going forward so if you can travel at a last minute’s notice we’ll contact you to let you know where we are, how to clear into the country we’re at and then how to have an amazing sailing experience. Wow. Your video takes me there. My wife says no thanks. I would absolutely enjoy being away from our routine. I’m retired and you are enjoying what I should be doing.
I will continue to follow and carry on with the coast guard auxiliary, helping folks navigate their way through the boating experience
Hey Matt. If you ever want to come out sailing with us, and let your wife enjoy here home comforts, many of our guests do that. We’d love to have you. Smiles, Kim
Hi guys! Congrats on getting your sea kegs back. Quick questions…lock the beached dinghy in some way or no; same question re the boat, and do different beaches and islands dictate a different approach to security? Simon’s hiking shoes…they look like scuba booties but I think not. Pray tell! Thanks and sail on!! Curt
Hey Curt! We almost always lock our dinghy on all islands except for deserted ones. Dinghy theft is massive in the Caribbean…Luckily it’s just dinghies that go missing. I’ve never heard of an actual boat being stolen. Some islands seem worse than others. For example, St Lucia is really bad for dinghy theft but it really does happen everywhere. And yes – Simon was wearing his dive boots! Thank you for your comments 🙂 Kim
The Covid time has left its mark on you. As it was to be expected. But you are still looking good!
Good luck wherever you are.
